Tampa, Fla. – Titan America and Port Tampa Bay recently marked the opening of Berth 218 at the port, a milestone that reflects more than two decades of successful partnership. The investment expands port capacity, strengthens supply chain resilience, and sets a new benchmark for sustainable marine infrastructure, reinforcing the Port Tampa Bay’s role as a critical entry point for the region’s growth.
Constructed directly adjacent to Titan America’s active cement import terminal, the new berth significantly enhances the company’s reliability and operational efficiency. The strategic investment provides the terminal with increased unloading capacity for cementitious and bulk materials, further strengthening Titan America’s ability to serve its customers with greater flexibility, dependability, and speed.
"Berth 218 represents the very best of what public-private partnerships can accomplish,” said Port Tampa Bay Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Raul Alfonso. By working closely with Titan America, our contractors, engineers, and marine operators, we successfully expanded critical port infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted operations and establishing new standards for environmental stewardship."
Together with Port Tampa Bay, Titan America helped deliver infrastructure that strengthens regional commerce, improves operational resilience, and supports the continued growth of one of the nation’s most important maritime gateways. Titan America supplied approximately 5,000 cubic yards of specialized marine concrete designed to meet the demanding performance requirements of a waterfront environment. The highly engineered concrete provides the durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance essential for critical marine infrastructure.
“One of the greatest achievements of Berth 218 wasn’t simply constructing a new marine facility – it was proving that major infrastructure improvements can be completed while maintaining uninterrupted operations at a vital working port,” said Senior Vice President, Marketing and Florida Cement & Aggregates Sales of Titan America, Guillermo Haberer. That accomplishment reflects the strength of the partnership between Port Tampa Bay, Titan America, and the entire project team.”
As Port Tampa Bay has expanded its capability and cargo volumes, Titan America invested in terminal operations and infrastructure to support its long-term growth, including the inauguration of a cement storage terminal expansion in 2024 and the installation of a state-of-the-art ready-mix operation on the site in 2023. As part of the Berth 218 project, Titan America also recently invested approximately $3 million to relocate and upgrade its cement unloading infrastructure, seamlessly integrating existing operations with the new berth, while enhancing operational efficiency, resiliency, and future capacity.
